Let me begin by saying I am not a runner... I don't enjoy it, I've never gotten a "runner's high", I feel like I'm struggling the whole time...
that said, I do try to run occasionally because I know it's good for me and to help get me in better shape.
So a few months ago a friend at work told me about this 5K that supports missions. I figured it'd be a good thing to sign up for to give me a goal and something to work towards. Jason said he'd run it with me. I knew running it would be no big deal for him... it's actually more work for him to get his body to run as slow as I do!
We headed out early Saturday morning... probably the coldest morning of the fall so far... and we were crazy enough to bring Brooklyn with us. (Yes, she was bundled up warm and snug.)
While we (I) had been getting ready for this, we'd run on Saturday mornings with Jason pushing her in the stroller and normally she loves it. But of course, not today!
She hated having a hat on her head. She wasn't happy riding in the stroller. She was pretty much fussy the whole time. Which is completely unlike her.
So I kept running and Jason stopped to take care of her... which put him finishing a little later than he normally could have.
The result: I did run the whole thing (except a quick stop to check on the baby) with a time of 34:24.
Not impressive for most people, but I'm proud of it :)
We really enjoyed our morning (and Brooklyn did too as soon as she was held). We saw several friends, walked through the exhibits, and started the weekend off with a good feeling of accomplishment.
