Well, our Thanksgiving didn't turn out as planned, but we still had a lot of fun times and it probably helped us get an even better focus on just how much we really do have to be thankful for.
We left for TN on Tuesday night. I had a cold, but nothing major. But by Wednesday afternoon, Jason was sitting in the urgent care with me where we found out I had the flu :(
(Thank you kids ER!)
I was miserable, but the worst part was that I had to be at least 3 feet away from Brooklyn for 3 days. (Walking away from your baby when she is holding her arms out for you is heartbreaking... and yes, I cried... in front of everyone... and several times.) But I knew I had to do it because I did NOT want her to get the flu too. Thankfully the doctor gave Jason some Tamiflu as well to try to keep him from getting sick (and so far, so good!).
So while I was in bed, Jason took care of me and Brooklyn. And my sweet, sweet mother-in-law took good care of all three of us. Of course Brooklyn decided to get up at 5:00 every morning (which is 4:00 in TN!). But they were right there to get her. And she had a blast... she had someone to play with every corner she turned! She was a filthy mess after playing outside with the kids on Thanksgiving day, but she loved every minute of it.
It meant the world to me to know she was so happy and in such good hands when I couldn't be there. (And somehow along the way she's become even more GLUED to her Daddy!)
And as soon as we got home, Papa and Nanni spent the day playing with Brooklyn to give me some more recouping time.
It was a great reminder to know what a blessing it is to wake up and feel good and be healthy.
And for your family to be healthy.
And to have family that you not only love, but enjoy and know are there for you.
We are TRULY so blessed... and so full of THANKS!
