15 and 16 and Spring

Today Brooklyn is 15 months old.
And our baby girls are 16 1/2 weeks into this pregnancy.
Definitely a great way to ring in the first day of Spring!

Brooklyn:
  • Every day we find ourselves talking about how fast she's growing, learning, and becoming a "big" girl.  There's very little baby left and a LOT of toddler coming out!
  • She's a talker... she really has quite a large vocabulary for her age (at least we think so!).  One of the cutest things she says is "thank you".  Which definitely doesn't come out that clearly, but at least she does try.  She also has her own rendition of "here ya go" and "oops".  There's a long list of words she can say, but that doesn't mean she uses all of them regularly.  And for some reason she will NOT say "please"... I know she can because she says Papa and pacy... I think it's just a strong-willed thing.
  • She follows simple instructions very well (when she's cooperating) and I'm quite sure she understands way more than we realize.
  • Nemo is by far her favorite movie right now.  She grabs the remote control and points to the TV and says "fis, fis".
  • CHAIRS!  Big ones, little ones, doesn't matter.  If Brooklyn sees a chair, she will climb into it.  Over and over and over.
  • She loves her books.  Not so much to be read to, but to point at pictures.
  • The girl is obsessed with shoes.  Every single day she goes through my closet and her closet and pulls all the shoes out and brings them to me to put on.  And I love to watch her try to put her own shoes on.
  • I made the mistake of putting her up on my bathroom counter a few times while I put my makeup on.  Well now she feels that if she is in our bathroom she should be sitting on the counter WITH a makeup brush to play with.  Super cute, but super hard to get ready that way!
  • She loves to brush her hair and brush her teeth herself.  But HATES for me to actually do either for her.
  • Takes one nap now.  Usually 1-1/2 to 2 hours around 12:30.  Still sleeps from 7:30ish to 7:30ish.  And she's SO easy to put down.  She's usually reaching for her crib.
  • Clothes: 12-18 months.  Weight: I'm guessing around 23 pounds.  Shoes: Size 4.

This Pregnancy So Far:
  • The first 12 weeks were rough.  Morning sickness is a joke.  I had 24-hour sickness.  But, thankfully, it got much better right at 12 weeks, and is now 99% gone.  SO thankful for Jason being very sweet and understanding even though I'm sure I was not fun to be around day in and day out.  And for my sister who would call and say "I'm out front, bring Brooklyn to me, I'm taking her for a few hours".  And my parents for giving me many much needed rest breaks.
  • I couldn't eat chicken for the longest time.  In fact I hated the word.  But I am starting to like it again.
  • I've craved salty foods.  I did the same thing with Brooklyn.  Normally I'm more of a sweets person, but for some reason salty stuff sounds great... chips, olives, pickles, fries, etc.
  • T.I.R.E.D.  I don't know if it's having a toddler to chase around or if it's carrying twins or both... whatever it is my body has felt so tired since early on.  I get frustrated with it, but I know it's all part of it, and I'm thankful to feel anything that means they are growing.
  • Believe it or not, I really think I felt the first little movements as early as 13 weeks.  It was nothing more than a faint, occasional tap, but I'm positive it was the babies (and not gas like Jason seems to think!).  Now I feel them lightly kick every once in a while, but still not consistently.
  • I go through phases of not sleeping well.  Which I can't stand because normally I sleep great.  But some nights I wake up at 1 or 2 a.m. and just lay there for hours.  Again, did the same thing with Brooklyn.
  • Crazy dreams!  Weird, weird stuff.  And way more often than any non-pregnant time.  (Again, I remember that with Brooklyn too... I guess with all these similarities I should've known it would be two more girls!)
