Twins ~ 8 Months

Wow.  This year is going by so fast.  Eight months is so close to the one year mark... I just can't believe it.  But, what a wonderful (crazy!) 8 months it has been!

The girls are in super fast learning mode right now.  They're trying to do and say new things every day.  They are so much fun.  They can brighten the most overwhelming of days.  They are pure sweetness.  I love how happy they are.

They're eating just about everything.  I'm pretty sure they've had a hundred more things than I ever tried with Brooklyn at this age.  I let them chew on crackers, breads, frozen fruits, etc.  And, yes, sometimes it's probably a little too advanced for them... Brooklyn lets me know by saying "Mommy, ___ is choking." Nice.  That will make people look --even more so-- when we're out in public! (She's sooooo a little mommy).  But they've done really good with it all.  But because of that, they make a big mess several times a day... I feel like I sweep and wipe mouths and hands all day long (but I love it!).  I think there are enough crumbs gathered off of our floor by the end of the night to feed a small country.
case in point...

~~ EMMA ~~

  • Aggressive, willful, determined, a fighter, strong, active, busy, works hard to get what she wants, easy with others-- will go to anyone, likes to be held and loved on, but okay to do her own thing most of the time too ... (I'll be so interested to see if these personality traits continue throughout each of their lives.)
  • She's sitting up very sturdy now.  And she's trying to pull herself from laying down to sitting up- not quite there yet.  She even tries to pull up.
  • And definitely trying to crawl.  She gets up on all fours and rocks.  And she can scoot backwards, and shimmy in a full circle.  She gets so frustrated because she knows she should be able to do more, but she just can't figure it out yet.
  • Changing her diaper or her clothes takes work.  She does not stay still.  She's always on the move.  Flipping, rolling, going somewhere.
  • Finally has a tooth about to pop through.  Which accounts for the uncontrollable drooling that soaks her clothes.
  • Says "ba-ba-ba-ba" and "da-da-da-da" all the time. (Jason is convinced she's trying to say "ball" and "daddy"!)
  • She'll occasionally suck on her left thumb, but absolutely refuses a pacy.

~~ SOPHIE ~~
  • Sweet, likes to just sit back and watch and take it all in, happy as can be as long as she's secure and sure of who's around her and where she's at, but quickly will let you know if she isn't, needs a lot of attention/affection, switches between crying and laughing so fast that sometimes you're not sure which is which, giggles hysterically,
  • Just starting sitting up too!
  • But not the least bit interested in trying anything else.  She's happy to lay and watch Emma do and try and work... it's almost as if Sophie's saying "good job, Emma, keep trying, you're doing great!"... all while she just would rather someone hold her :)
  • Talks, coos, makes little kissing/smacking sounds.  Also says "da-da-da-da".  (Neither one has made the first "ma-ma" sound).
  • Most definitely another pacy girl.  She sleeps with a pacy, stuffed dog, and a blanky!
